A look at some of the different types of e-cigarettes available

There are many different types of electronic cigarettes available to the consumer today and 3 of these include minis, mid size and APVs. Here we take a look at each of these in more detail:

Those who are new to e-smoking usually opt for a mini e-cigarette because they look and feel very similar to a traditional tobacco cigarette. When these were first released into the market, they were made up of 3 pieces which included the battery, the atomizer and the cartridge. Today most mini e-ciggies consist of 2 pieces which include the battery and the cartomizer. A cartomizer combines an atomizer and the vapour liquid in a single unit.

Advantages of mini e-cigarettes:

  • Cheapest way to start e-smoking
  • Small in size so is discreet
  • Look and feel very similar to a tobacco cigarette
  • Automatic and manual models both available
  • Parts can be re-used
  • Great for occasional smokers

Disadvantages of mini e-cigarettes:

  • Not durable enough for heavy smokers
  • Batteries are not long lasting
  • Automatic batteries can be damaged by leaking liquid
  • Unable to use low resistant heads which means less vapour produced

Mid-size e-cigarettes

Next up is the mid-size electronic cigarette which is the most popular type of e-cigarette available on the market today. The mid-size e-cig is suitable for all kinds of e-smokers. It's main benefit is a bigger battery size which means it is able to last much longer and perform much better; it also means that more vapour is produced and a variety of different heads can be used, including low resistance ones which are able to produce more vapour.

Advantages of mid-size e-cigarettes:

  • Have the look and feel of a real cigar
  • A smaller battery can be used for a more discreet e-cigarette
  • Better performing than a mini e-cig
  • Longer lasting battery
  • Large variety of heads available
  • Suitable for most e-smokers

Disadvantages of mid-size e-cigarettes:

  • May feel too big for those who are new to e-smoking
  • Usually only manual devices available
  • More expensive than mini e-cigs

APVs

APV stands for 'Advanced Personal Vaporizer'. APVs provide a natural progression for those who are looking to get the best possible performance from their e-ciggy. APVs include any device that includes batteries that are replaceable as well as additional functions that are not available in the mini or mid-size e-cigarette. The main benefit of APVs are that they provide a much better performance due to their larger battery size, as well as numerous advanced features including variable voltage, electronic control and a solid metal construction.

Advantages of APVs:

  • High performing device
  • Longer lasting battery
  • Durable construction designed to last many years
  • Advanced functions designed for experienced e-smokers
  • Feature electronic controls
  • Suitable for all e-smokers

Disadvantages of APVs:

  • Initially expensive
  • Only manual devices available

It doesn’t take much getting used to at all, and I’d recommend it to anyone. I got the Aussie Dragon Kit - it is great one! No more smoking for me!

I actually never knew that there were such thing as mini e-cigarettes. I heard my friend talking about them but I never actually believed him. Interesting post, keep it up!

I think the mid-size ecigs are about the same in terms of size for the real deal. Realistic is key.

Even though the mini's are considered starters and for newbies only, I really like them and think that they are the best e-cigs for my needs. I'm going to start ordering from your site when I am out, I just saw your selection and you seem to have everything!

My first e-cig was a mini one as my friend recommended that I should start with it, but now I think that I have gotten to a stage where I can look to the medium sized ones instead.
